Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results so bad.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
