Followers Urge Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the Australian man pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a event pathway surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though official papers showed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Many followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented a further message on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored a dozen Academy Award nods, winning several for outstanding attire and production design.
