Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
