Fresh Details Emerge About the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking passing of esteemed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the home. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
When she went into the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently in custody and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family also disputed several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
The source also pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes reports of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
