Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows like Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to reports.

"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a announcement.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised many learners throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared online.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
