Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in Washington DC.

“She was the individual that educators wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to help others.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the administration to pause refugee claims and cease issuing visas to holders of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she aimed to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
